Reflection No. 1: Basic Goodness of Human Being
As I reflect on my study of unit one, I have gained an understanding of the crucial importance of treating individuals with disabilities with basic goodness, openness, clarity, and warmth. It is essential to acknowledge that they share the same aspirations for health, love, security, inclusion, and happiness as everyone else.
However,
I can imagine that achieving happiness and prosperity through harmony within
oneself, with others, and with nature can be challenging for individuals with
disabilities. I can also understand that societal barriers and physical
limitations can make it difficult for individuals with disabilities to achieve
this harmony. Despite these challenges, I am sure that with proper education
and understanding, individuals with disabilities can learn how to live in a way
that promotes overall health and well-being, prevents problems from arising,
and fosters a sense of connection and fulfillment.
For
example, if I were a person with a disability, I would focus on adapting my
living spaces or daily routines to accommodate my physical limitations. I would
also seek specialized education or training to develop skills that would allow
me to participate fully in society. By focusing on these areas, I believe I can
cultivate a sense of harmony within myself and with my environment.
Furthermore,
I think it is crucial for society to recognize the value and potential of
individuals with disabilities. By promoting inclusion and providing
opportunities for individuals with disabilities to participate fully in
society, we can create a more harmonious and fulfilling world for everyone.
I have come to realize that individuals with disabilities face unique challenges in their daily lives, and it is crucial to approach them with understanding and compassion. We must strive to create a society that is inclusive and accommodating to their needs. This means providing access to education, employment opportunities, and public spaces that are designed with their needs in mind.
Moreover, I have learned that it is vital to recognize the strengths and capabilities of individuals with disabilities. They have unique perspectives and experiences that can enrich our communities and contribute to our collective growth and development.
In conclusion, my interactions with humans have taught me that treating individuals with disabilities with respect, kindness, and empathy is essential in creating a more inclusive and harmonious society. By recognizing their basic goodness and fundamental aspirations, we can work towards creating a world where everyone has the opportunity to live a fulfilling life.
