Reflection No.3: Class Presentation
To prepare for my presentation, I
spent three days creating a PowerPoint presentation. I focused on practicing
positive visualization, which I found to be the most helpful tip for improving
my presentation skills. However, one of the most challenging parts of preparing
for my presentation was finding relevant photos and graphics to use.
In the past, I have struggled with controlling my nervousness before, during, and after presentations. However, this time I found myself feeling comfortable and confident in front of my classmates. I attribute this to my subconscious telling me that nobody was paying attention to me. This helped me to feel calmer and more relaxed during my presentation, which went flawlessly.
The positive feedback that I
received from both my tutor and classmates was a great boost to my confidence.
It encouraged me to continue working on improving my presentation skills in the
future. One thing that I realized during my presentation was lacking
entertainment value while presenting. In the future, I aim to make my
presentations more entertaining, although this will be a challenge for me as I
am not a naturally funny person.
Overall, this was a great
learning opportunity for me. I learned beyond the charity model of disability;
I gained insight into what I need to work on to improve my presentation skills.
I am committed to putting in the effort to achieve my goals and hope that these
gained presentation skills will help meet the expectation of future
presentations that I have set for myself.
